Carboxylic Acids and Esters

 Carboxylic acids are organic compounds which contain the functional group -COOH. The group contains both a C=O bond a and C-O bond.

 

Esters are organic compounds which feature a COOC group formed by the reaction of a carboxylic acid and an alcohol.

 

My very, very limited computer/art skills have allowed me to create some rudimentary diagrams. My representation of carboxylic acids and esters can be seen below.
